Senior Scientist, Engineering (I/II) - Automation

Responsibilities:
- Lead delivery of custom and off-the-shelf automated laboratory systems to chemistry, engineering, and analytical teams.
- Proactively develop innovative automation and data-handling solutions.
- Partner with technical staff to address business challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
- Partner with Development Sciences Digital Transformation to deploy scalable, maintainable performance reporting.
- Build robust automated/autonomous end-to-end solutions (e.g., instrument measurement to data warehouse).
- Use operational excellence to identify and recommend process optimization opportunities.
- Integrate modeling approaches with experimental tools to improve process efficiency.

Qualifications / Requirements:
- BS/MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
- BS/MS/PhD in Chemical/Bio Engineering or related field with 12+ (BS), 10+ (MS), or 4+ (PhD) years of relevant industrial experience.
- Experience coordinating technical projects through delivery.
- Proven experience bringing new automation equipment/processes online; delivered into R&D labs and/or manufacturing.
- Programming experience (e.g., Python, Visual Basic, C/C#/C++, etc.) and automation ecosystems (e.g., Ignition).
- Proficiency with project/business tools (e.g., Excel, MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet).
- Strong written and verbal communication.

Skills/Experience (preferred/tied to role):
- Hardware integration, analytical tools, and data handling; chemical process development background.
- Knowledge of first-principles/knowledge-driven regression and data/AI-ML optimization (e.g., Bayesian optimization, NN, NODE, DOE).
