What youβll do:
- Execute routine 2D and 3D PSC expansion, passaging, and directed SC-islet differentiation
- Design optimization experiments to achieve a scalable, robust 3D SC-islet differentiation process compliant with manufacturing standards
- Optimize differentiation protocol for highly pure on-target populations
- Operate closed systems (tube welder, sealer, single-use assemblies)
- Set up and run controlled bioreactors; manage automation and process control (DO, pH, perfusion, agitation)
- Collaborate and communicate experimental findings
- Maintain strong scientific documentation; contribute to SOP development
- Ensure lab safety and biosafety compliance
- Contribute to team execution and feedback; support multidisciplinary collaboration while meeting deadlines
What weβre looking for:
- PhD in stem cell biology or biochemical/biomedical engineering (or related) with 3β5 years of direct cell therapy industry experience
- Strong experience operating suspension culture bioreactors
- Bioreactor control software/process development tools and/or DOE-based optimization (preferred)
- Experience operating closed cell culture systems
- Flow cytometry and immunofluorescent staining experience
- Proficiency with flow cytometry/imaging software (e.g., FACSDiva, FlowJo, ImageJ, Halo)
What will separate you from the crowd:
- Directed stem cell differentiation toward pancreatic islet lineage
- Ability to optimize differentiation yield and reproducibility across platforms
- Interest in GMP transition, automation, and continuous process improvement
- Experience with large bioreactors (15L+)
- Cross-functional collaboration experience advancing cell therapies to the clinic
What you should know:
- Base pay range: $160,000β$190,000/year (varies by factors such as location, knowledge, skills, and experience)
