Senior Scientist, Cell Therapy Islet

Role: Senior Scientist specializing in stem cell differentiation and bioreactor process optimization within Sana's Beta Islet Team. Objectives include scaling up and improving 3D PSC expansion and differentiation protocols toward pancreatic islet lineage, ensuring process robustness and compliance with manufacturing standards. Responsibilities encompass executing and designing experiments for PSC culture in 2D/3D systems, optimizing differentiation purity and yield, and operating controlled bioreactors and closed systems. Qualifications: PhD in Stem Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with 3-5 years’ industry experience; extensive bioreactor operation expertise, including control software and automation; proficiency in flow cytometry and imaging. Preferred: experience with directed stem cell differentiation toward pancreatic islet cells, GMP transition, and large-scale bioreactor operation (>15L). High-value biopharma specifics include cell therapy modality, focus on pancreatic islet/regenerative medicine, GMP compliance, and process development for clinical translation. Collaboration involves cross-functional teams; work is onsite at Cambridge.
