Senior Scientist, Cell Line Development

Role: Cell Line Development Scientist supporting AstraZeneca's Cell Therapy portfolio, focusing on clone isolation, viral packaging, and high-throughput screening to optimize cell lines for product quality and stability. Responsibilities include performing mammalian CLD activities (single-cell and mini-pools), establishing scalable workflows for clone characterization, leading cell line engineering to enhance viral productivity and genetic stability, and collaborating with analytical teams to correlate clone attributes with quality metrics. Qualifications: PhD or Master’s in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or Virology; 3-4 years’ experience in mammalian cell line development, viral vector production, and clone screening; proficiency with flow cytometry, cell sorting, qPCR/ddPCR, and high-throughput platforms; hands-on experience with genetic modifications such as CRISPR. Preferred: experience in monoclonality validation, viral vector engineering, and support of vector design for gene therapy. High-Value: focus on lentiviral vector production in HEK293 cells, cell/gene therapy applications, and process optimization. Location: Gaithersburg, MD, on-site with a fast-paced lab environment.
