Role Summary

The Research Senior Scientist is responsible for managing and performing scientific research, development, and testing of new products, manufacturing processes, and raw materials. This role aims to advance scientific knowledge and contribute to therapeutic advancements, aligning with Takeda's mission to deliver Better Health and a Brighter Future to people around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design DNA constructs to be used for various therapeutic modalities, such as TCEs, mAbs, ADCs, and bispecifics, and be abreast with current scientific research
  • Use demonstrated skills in molecular biology, plasmid design, and protein expression in mammalian cells to design DNA constructs for protein expression of antibodies, single domains, multispecifics, enzymes, membrane proteins, etc. in transient expression constructs or for lentiviral transduction or transposon technology in stable cell line generation
  • Design and direct research strategy and activities to meet program goals; provide leadership, timelines and contingency plans
  • Contribute to multiple projects, being a senior scientific consultant and guide the teams on which isoforms are relevant for target design
  • Collaborate on Global Biologics project teams representing Biologics Generation and Analytics (BGA)
  • Work collaboratively and effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment as a team player, yet independently manage projects and lab work
  • Multitask and work independently to meet aggressive timelines.
  • Independently design, develop and execute research assignments and contribute to multiple projects, in parallel
  • Develop the next generation of team members, act as an advocate for new opportunities for the team and members across functions

Qualifications

  • In-depth experience with biologics and novel antibody designs.
  • Experience with common cloning techniques such as Seamless, Gibson assembly or Golden Gate, PCR and plasmid DNA preparation are highly desirable
  • Knowledge of high-throughput cloning and automation to assemble and generate DNA constructs to advance protein generation for multiple projects across many therapeutic areas.
  • Extensive experience in molecular biology and reformatting protein/antibody workflows for expression and experience designing engineering solutions (multispecifics and innovative non-antibody fusions).
  • Experience in intellectual property aspects as related to design and is experienced with bioinformatics approaches and algorithms that aid design.
  • Expertise in different molecular biology databases at NCBI, Uniprot, etc., and multiple molecular biology software tools, such as Geneious Prime and Biologics, Genedata Biologics, and Snapgene
  • Familiarity with cell line generation and CRISPR construct design in stable cell lines is nice to have
  • Problem solver, capable of addressing and overcoming research challenges.
  • Innovative thinker with a track record of applying new ideas to solve scientific problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
  • Committed to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to therapeutic advancements.
