Role Summary
Senior Scientist, Bioanalysis responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting LC-MS-based bioanalytical experiments to support small molecule drug discovery and development. The role requires deep expertise in LC-MS and related sample preparation techniques, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a commitment to advancing scientific discovery in alignment with Vertex’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute technically challenging LC-MS-based bioanalytical experiments to support small molecule drug discovery and development.
- Analyze and interpret complex, multidimensional data to generate clear hypotheses and guide experimental directions.
- Develop and optimize bioanalytical methods to address critical research questions.
- Manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and timelines.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and implement innovative solutions to experimental challenges.
- Stay abreast of relevant scientific literature and integrate new concepts and methodologies into research strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success and contribute to the development of novel therapeutics.
- Prepare and review technical reports, publications, and regulatory documentation as required.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant post-doctoral experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Skills
- Strong expertise in bioanalytical techniques, including but not limited to LC-MS/MS, automation, and other relevant methodologies.
- Quantitative analysis and method development of small molecules.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of innovative method development.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Education
- Ph.D. or Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with 2+ years of post-doctoral experience (Ph.D.); 5+ years (Master’s); or 8+ years (Bachelor’s).
Additional Requirements
- On-site designation: On-Site; five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility. Flex status is subject to Vertex’s policy and may change.
