- Develop and characterize novel animal models to understand mechanisms of hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction and test novel therapeutics
- Design and perform in vivo functional assays (e.g., ABR, DPOAE, VsEPs, noise exposure experiments) and other novel technologies to study hearing loss mechanisms
- Conduct histological analyses of the inner ear to examine cell morphology and subcellular protein localization
- Design rigorous experiments, carefully analyze and evaluate data, and address core scientific questions
- Present data internally and externally in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Contribute to writing protocols, reports, and articles for publication
- Manage several concurrent studies with strong attention to detail and organization
- Motivate and develop research associates and trainees
This Role Requires
- Ph.D. in a relevant field or Au.D.
- Strong background in electrophysiology and ear biology
- Experience with functional measures of ear physiology in mice and/or other animal models
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently and in a team
Preferred
- Familiarity with stereotaxic delivery to the inner ear
- Experience with primary culture of auditory, vestibular, or neural cells
- Excellent publication record and managerial experience
