Main Responsibilities:
- Lead scientific initiatives and teams to design, develop, and validate advanced ocular in vitro models for early and late-stage ophthalmic research.
- Lead/contribute to ophthalmology drug discovery programs (target validation, translational strategy, pipeline progression).
- Establish and optimize iPSC-derived ocular differentiation protocols (e.g., RPE, RGCs, microglia, endothelial cells).
- Integrate automation/robotics to scale workflows and improve reproducibility (automated liquid handling, high-throughput imaging/data acquisition, QC/standardization for large-scale screening and 3D model generation).
- Evaluate/implement advanced technologies (co-cultures, organoids, MPS, organ-on-chip, bioprinting).
- Apply models for disease mechanisms, target validation, multi-modality therapeutics, and safety.
- Develop/validate assays for retinal degeneration, retinal immunology, and neuroinflammation.
- Influence project strategy, deliver scientific presentations/documentation, publish/present externally, and mentor junior scientists.
Education/Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline; 3+ years postdoctoral experience in pharma/biopharma (industry drug discovery leadership/contribution preferred).
