Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize complex bioassays and target-binding potency assays critical for development of complex biotherapeutics.
- Collaborate with analytical teams to elucidate structure/function and interact cross-functionally with Discovery, Chemistry Manufacturing & Controls (CMC), QC, and QA to support drug development activities and IND submissions.
- Qualify/validate/transfer potency methods to external partners; author technical documents (e.g., test methods, protocols, reports) to enable regulatory submissions.
- Develop new techniques/approaches/technologies; troubleshoot and perform optimization experiments; present work to cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- MS in biology, biochemistry, cell/molecular biology, or related field, plus 1 year academic research experience or industry work as a development scientist.
- Experience (1 year) in:
- Binding potency assays (ELISA, TR-FRET, Octet, flow cytometry, other cell-based formats) for protein therapeutics (monoclonal antibodies, ADCs, or other biologic modalities).
- Cell-based functional potency assays (cytotoxicity, reporter gene, proliferation, effector function such as ADCC/CDC).
- Cell-based and/or noncell-based target binding and functional potency assays to characterize MOA.
- Data analysis (GraphPad Prism, PLA, Softmax Pro, or similar).
- Optimizing/troubleshooting potency assays.
- Matrixed, cross-functional scientific work within a CMC environment.
- Authoring technical reports, drafting SOPs, writing CMC sections of regulatory filings, and giving scientific presentations.
- Alternatively, BS degree plus 5 years relevant development scientist experience; must cover the listed experience areas.
