Responsibilities:
- Support the DCPD Human Factors Center of Excellence (HFCOE) by optimizing day-to-day development processes.
- Work with HFCOE team members and key stakeholders to establish optimal, accessible, and actionable processes.
- Serve as process owner for key HFCOE processes.
- Diagnose current process state; identify pain points and improvement opportunities.
- Use process improvement tools to implement countermeasures that improve process efficiency, quality, and/or compliance.
- Define process strategy, objectives, and long-range roadmap with stakeholder input; facilitate/implement process changes.
- Create and maintain documentation (best practice guidelines, job aids, SOPs).
- Act as HFCOE resident expert for information management tools supporting processes (e.g., SharePoint, Smartsheet).
- Serve as HF Lead for product development activities:
- Design and conduct user research.
- Perform task/workflow analyses; partner with System Engineers on user needs and user interface specifications.
- Conduct and evaluate use-related risk analyses; recommend/evaluate design mitigations; design user interfaces and instructional materials.
- Design and conduct usability tests/assessments; analyze interviews and surveys.
- Prepare and compile documentation for regulatory submissions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree (or equivalent) in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, or related field; typically 12+ years of experience.
- Masterโs degree (or equivalent); typically 10+ years of experience.
- PhD; typically 4+ years of experience.
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of Human Factors methods and principles.
- Excellent written and spoken communications skills.
- Ability to work across disciplines and teams in fast-paced environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
