Senior Research Engineer

Role: Senior Research Engineer focused on developing and applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to improve understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer in 3M's materials, processes, and energy systems. Responsibilities include leading CFD model development, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation via Multiphysics simulations, supporting customer engagements with complex fluid dynamics challenges, and contributing to intellectual property development. Requirements: Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field; at least 3 years of experience in CFD and engineering environments, preferably with knowledge of material handling, energy transport, and HPC. Preferred skills include proficiency in Python, experience with Machine Learning and FSI models, and global teamwork experience. High-value specifics include application in materials handling, energy systems, and process optimization within an industrial setting. Work setup: On-site at 3M Center, Maplewood, MN, with <10% travel; relocation assistance may be provided.
