Senior Research Associate, Clinical Genomics (Onsite, Princeton, NJ)
Responsibilities:
- Execute FFPE tissue processing, DNA extraction, nucleic acid quantification, quality assessment, and sample prep for NGS workflows.
- Support whole exome sequencing (WES): library preparation, sequencing coordination, assay QC, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Handle limited clinical FFPE tissue samples with careful sample handling, input assessment, and tissue-use prioritization.
- Support FFPE RNA extraction and RNA-seq sample preparation as needed.
- Review assay and sequencing QC metrics to ensure data quality for downstream analysis.
- Coordinate with Bioinformatics/Data Science for data handoff, QC review, and analysis-ready deliverables.
- Maintain accurate clinical sample workflow documentation using LIMS, ELN, and other tracking systems.
- Contribute to assay optimization, workflow standardization, process improvements, and technology development.
- Collaborate with Translational Sciences, Clinical Operations, Pathology, Bioinformatics, and external partners to deliver clinical genomics data; follow internal quality expectations and GCP-supportive documentation.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Immunology, Oncology, or related field; 3+ years relevant lab experience.
- Hands-on FFPE processing, DNA extraction, nucleic acid QC, NGS library prep, and Illumina sequencing workflows.
- Experience with WES/hybrid-capture NGS assays or related genomic profiling.
- Experience with clinical/limited tissue samples in oncology/translational/pharma/biotech settings.
- FFPE RNA extraction and RNA-seq prep preferred.
- Ability to evaluate assay performance, interpret sequencing QC, troubleshoot, and communicate clearly.
- Working knowledge of NGS data quality (coverage, library complexity, performance, batch effects).
- Experience with LIMS/ELN or similar tracking systems.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive workflows.
- Strong written/verbal communication.
- Spatial genomics/multiplex imaging is a plus.
Additional responsibilities:
- Translate project needs into executable clinical genomics workflows; plan/coordinate/prioritize sample processing.
- Improve FFPE DNA, WES, RNA-seq, and related workflows; participate in cross-functional teams.
- Serve as a technical resource and support training; maintain traceable, reproducible records for delivery readiness.
