Senior Recruiter Job Description

Summary/Job Purpose

The Senior Recruiter will manage the recruitment process for corporate hiring at Exelixis. Operating at a high level, the Senior Recruiter will partner with hiring managers to develop a strategic approach to attracting top talent, maintain a positive candidate experience, and successfully onboard new hires.

This role is onsite five (5) days a week (Monday through Friday) based at our Alameda, CA headquarters location.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a high volume of full-cycle recruitment for the organization’s technical positions, including managing the entire hiring process from sourcing, screening, interviewing, and making recommendations to hiring managers for selection and offer.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to identify and engage with qualified active and passive candidates. Utilize online posting, networking, career fairs, and other events as needed.
  • Work directly with hiring managers to define their needs, ensure the accuracy of job descriptions/postings, and identify qualified candidates. Provide hiring managers with regular updates on the recruitment progress.
  • Research market trends and furnish market data and insights to advise on the best hiring practices.
  • Utilize current applicant tracking system (ATS) and other sourcing tools for screening and effective outreach to candidates.
  • Document candidate evaluation and interview processes.
  • Negotiate and/or support hiring managers in developing new hire compensation.
  • Ensure compliance with current employment laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal HR partners throughout the hiring process, including but not limited to the TA team, HRBP, HRIS, and Compensation.
  • Provide training to staff on the interview process and manage the debrief sessions.
  • Manage relationships with external recruiting agencies or vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Knowledge & Skills

Education and Experience:

AA degree in a related discipline and 9 years of related experience; or, BS/BA degree in a related discipline and 7 years of related experience; or, MS/MA degree in a related discipline and 5 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • At least 5 years of experience in full cycle in-house recruitment specifically for biopharmaceutical-based positions.
  • Organizes and prioritizes numerous tasks and completes them under time constraints.
  • Frequently applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of the area of specialization.
  • Applies strong analytical and business communication skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise the best judgment to resolve and act in ambiguous situations.
  • Advanced PC skills required, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-based environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with using applicant tracking systems and candidate sourcing tools.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $114,000 - $163,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan. Exelixis also offers employees the opportunity to purchase company stock, and receive long-term incentives, 15 accrued vacation days in their first year, 17 paid holidays including a company-wide winter shutdown in December, and up to 10 sick days throughout the calendar year.
