In this role you will:
- Own and lead the product roadmap, product development, launch and adoption of novel molecule design solutions across multiple departments.
- Define the strategic direction for molecule design tools with GenAI capabilities at the core.
- Partner with the Onyx tech team and R&D scientists/leaders to deliver cloud-based GenAI/agentic capabilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Product Strategy and Roadmap: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap for molecule design solutions and tools.
- Customer Understanding: Conduct customer research to gather insights and emerging requirements.
- Product Planning and Definition: Define product requirements, features, and specifications.
- Agile Product Development: Coordinate with portfolio and engineering teams; prioritize, plan sprints, and manage backlog.
- GenAI Product and Capability Upgrade: Spearhead AI agents (LLMs/Generative AI) for tasks such as hypothesis generation, experimental design, and data interpretation; design human-agent interaction; own model/agent lifecycle (data acquisition, fine-tuning, APIs/agents).
- Model-In-The-Loop Design: Enable users to challenge/verify/provide feedback to improve tools and models.
- Lead technical product discussions; translate scientific objectives into requirements for foundational models, vector databases, and multi-agent architectures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with tech and RD teams (DevOps/Infrastructure, data & platform engineering, program management, RD data leadership).
- Product Launch and Adoption: Lead launches with training/support to drive adoption.
- Product Performance and Optimization: Monitor performance, analyze data, and iterate.

Basic Qualifications (Required):
- PhD + 2 years, Masters + 4 years, or Bachelors + 6 years.
- Bachelor’s in Bioinformatics, computational Biology, cheminformatics, AI/ML, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related.
- 4+ years in product management with a track record of shipping 0-to-1 AI/GenAI/LLM/autonomous-agent products.
- Experience defining product strategy; hands-on with vector databases, MLOps, RAG, and model fine-tuning.
- Cloud-native experience (AWS/GCP/Azure), API design, and infrastructure to serve/scale LLM applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing/launching AI agents that use tools (APIs/function calling).
- Prior software engineering or data science in GenAI teams.
- Knowledge of transformer model architectures and trade-offs (proprietary vs open-source vs fine-tuned).
- Experience with complex unstructured biomedical data.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics/computational biology/cheminformatics and agentic AI for drug discovery.
- Experience with Model Context Protocols (MCP) and memory/context strategies.
- Hands-on with PM tools (Confluence, Jira, Miro, Monday, Notion, etc.).
- Life science/biopharma R&D experience.

Benefits/Pay:
- For Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA: annual base salary $147,675–$246,125; plus annual bonus and eligibility for long-term incentive; benefits include health care/insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
