Position Summary
The Senior Procurement Specialist will collaborate with Procurement, Supply Chain, Packaging Engineering, Quality, Operations, Accounts Payable, Finance, and suppliers.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage competitive bids; identify sourcing opportunities; assist with developing and maintaining a three-year sourcing plan.
- Support Kalamazoo site and global procurement cost savings targets.
- Manage vendor relationships for assigned commodities to ensure competitive costs, business continuity, and day-to-day execution per policy.
- Lead/manage sourcing and continuous improvement projects; analyze conversion opportunities; facilitate implementations; gain end-user and senior management buy-in.
- Manage vendor relationships and facilitate on-site visits and contacts with colleagues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience / Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years relevant Procurement experience.
- Pharmaceutical/Animal Health experience is a plus; understanding of GMP and required quality standards.
- Relevant supplier/procurement experience; self-motivated with a positive attitude; strong organizational and results orientation; ability to work effectively across all levels.
Skills (Required/Preferred)
- Strong verbal/written communication; presentation/facilitation; interpersonal/teamwork/problem-solving.
- Technical: leadership, operational management, data/financial analysis, decision-making, critical thinking, negotiating, conflict resolution.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP; SAP and/or Ariba experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook); ability to learn company systems.
- Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
Physical Position Requirements
- Mostly office work; may include travel and time in manufacturing environment; PPE required.
