Role: Senior Process Engineer in Manufacturing Sciences & Technology at AstraZeneca’s cell therapy facility, focusing on ensuring robust, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing of clinical and commercial cell therapy products. Responsibilities include providing hands-on technical support during manufacturing, developing SOPs and training, performing data analysis and trend monitoring, leading deviation investigations, implementing CAPAs, and supporting validation, tech transfers, and process improvements. The role also involves supporting raw material qualification, automation projects, documentation, regulatory submissions, and lifecycle management activities. The position serves as the primary interface between site Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and global Development/Regulatory functions. Qualifications: B.S. with 8+ years, M.S. with 4+ years, or PhD with 1+ years in Chemical Engineering, Biotech, or related fields; hands-on experience with cell therapy unit operations, GMP batch record review, deviation management, statistical analysis, and technical documentation. Preferred: experience in late-stage clinical manufacturing, process validation, and commercial readiness of cell therapy products. High-value: focus on cell therapy modalities, process validation, GMP compliance, regulatory support, and cross-functional collaboration. Work setup: on-site in Rockville, MD, with ~15% travel and on-call support during critical campaigns.
