Role Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific advances, leadership, and strategic direction for understanding molecular structure connectivity, solution/diffusion behavior, and permeation characteristics to enable optimal drug formulation and delivery systems.
- Integrate pharmaceutics, physical organic/biophysical/supramolecular chemistry, materials science, and biopharmaceutics into candidate screening/design, formulation, solid form strategy, and project direction.
- Teach, mentor, and coach colleagues; cultivate relationships with internal partners across Medicinal Design, PSSM, Clinical Pharmacology, Drug Safety, Research Units, and PDM.
- Lead scientific research and expand capabilities in molecular design–drug delivery, materials science, early biopharmaceutics, and drug formulation.
Qualifications (Basic):
- PhD (8+ years) in a relevant field, or BS/MS (10–12+ years) in Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical Sciences/Materials Science/Physical/Physical Organic/Biophysical Chemistry or related, with drug delivery and small-molecule drug product design experience.
- Knowledge of biology/pharmacology/drug discovery/drug delivery up to Proof of Concept (POC).
- Background in small-molecule formulation and/or early biopharmaceutics/materials science/pharmacokinetics.
- Experience applying biophysical modeling; physicochemical and transport phenomena; in vitro/in vivo or in vitro/in vivo metabolism studies; and interpretation of preclinical exposure data.
- Interest in new technologies; strong interest in leadership; cross-disciplinary/matrix experience; excellent communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Track record supervising/mentoring scientists; understanding drug discovery/development; experience advancing initiatives and external collaborations.
