Senior Principal Scientist, Data Science RWE

Role: Lead scientific and technical expert in Real-world Evidence (RWE) within Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine division. Objectives: Oversee RWE project portfolio, develop best practices, mentor team, and deliver actionable insights to support regulatory and clinical decision-making. Responsibilities: manage RWE studies including study design, data feasibility, analysis, programming, and interpretation; create study protocols and statistical analysis plans; lead efforts to mitigate biases using diverse RWD sources; develop and maintain tools for project acceleration; partner with therapeutic area scientists to deliver RWE solutions. Qualifications: Ph.D. in epidemiology or biostatistics; 5+ years in biopharma, healthcare, or consulting; expert coding skills in R, Python, or SAS; strong experience with RWD (EHR, claims, registries); adept in data extraction, cleaning, and bias mitigation techniques; excellent communication skills. Preferred: familiarity with drug discovery, clinical development, especially in oncology, Immunology, or Neuroscience; experience with regulatory submissions. High-value: focus on external control arms, hybrid studies, comparative effectiveness, post-hoc RCT analysis; role involves regulatory interactions. Location: multiple US sites; role likely hybrid with some travel.
