Position Title: Sr. Principal FPGA Electrical Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership of FPGA architecture and design for embedded products
- Define and document FPGA functional requirements
- Participate in technical design reviews
- Design and implement FPGA solutions (system communication, control algorithms, data movement/processing)
- Conduct laboratory test, debug, and integration activities
- Perform and document requirement verification
- Participate in failure mode, safety, and hazard analysis for new and legacy device designs
- Support energy delivery modalities (ultrasound, LASER, and/or RF energy)
- Ensure equipment compliance with IEC medical device standards (60601-1, 60601-1-2, etc.)
- Mentor junior engineers in design, debugging, and documentation; support legacy while developing new products
- Improve FPGA development tools and methods
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) or equivalent experience
- Expert knowledge of electrical engineering concepts/principles for digital hardware/product development
- Minimum 10 years in FPGA design and development
- Hands-on experience with electronics laboratory test equipment
- Knowledge of analog/digital circuitry, Altium, and design for manufacturability
- Strong requirements/specification writing with design traceability and verification/validation plans
- Experience with IEC 60601 or similar regulated environments (SEMI, MIL-STD, FAA)
- Ability to work in fast-paced multidisciplinary teams; problem definition/data analysis; creativity for design trade-offs
- Ability to multitask and execute multiple assignments; provide group direction/leadership
