Senior Principal Engineer - Automation Engineering (Foundry)

Role Responsibilities
- Provide automation support for one or more operating areas across site and/or for capital projects.
- Mentor the process control team (design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning).
- Coordinate and implement process control work; lead/participate in design and automation application software reviews.
- Attend equipment/software FATs and lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning.
- Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan.
- Oversee Site Area leads and System Integrator work, including Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, DCS Application Software, and Test Specifications.
- Devise functional requirements and process control strategies in collaboration with Process Engineering.
- Perform DCS software design, coding/configuration, and testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software, etc.).
- Design, tune, and troubleshoot system integration across platforms and sites.
- Implement/support electronic systems (e.g., plant historians) capturing process automation production data.
- Maintain validated site control systems (validation strategies and documentation) in line with quality standards.
- Provide automation support for capital projects including new product introductions.
- Promote automation to improve productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance.
- Provide periodic status updates to Project Management.
- Influence process control organization priorities and compliance objectives across functional disciplines.

Qualifications
- Minimum B.S. in Engineering and experience in Automation Engineering; preferably in major pharmaceutical manufacturing system integration of applications, systems, and platforms.
- 8+ years experience in biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; no visa sponsorship.

Preferred Skills
- Experience designing, developing, commissioning, and qualifying greenfield automated manufacturing sites using SCADA, DCS, MES, LIMS, site historian systems, and middleware (e.g., DeltaV, Rockwell, Syncade, LabVantage, OSI PI, OPC).
- Experience developing native/custom application interfaces, ETL/data parsing for non-standard equipment/protocols.
- Experience commissioning/qualifying/supporting integrations between SCADA/DCS/MES/LIMS/historians and other applications.
- Experience facilitating decision-making at an organizational level.
