Senior Principal Engineer - Automation Engineering (Automation Engineering, Eli Lilly Foundry)

Key Objectives/Deliverables
- Lead capital project execution, including design, development, commissioning, qualification & support.
- Lead/oversee Site Area leads and System Integrators.
- Lead/participate in design reviews and DeltaV application software reviews; attend equipment/software FATs.
- Develop functional requirements and process control strategies for control systems with Process Engineering.
- Translate technical concepts for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan.
- Promote digital innovation/automation to enhance team efficiency.
- Maintain validated state of process control system application software.

Operational Excellence
- Apply system-level thinking with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Deep expertise with DeltaV DCS, Rockwell Allen Bradley PLC, and Batch Process Automation.
- Thorough understanding of 21 CFR Part 11 and GMP processes.
- Provide periodic status updates; lead/participate in site system hardware reviews; attend FATs.
- Promote automation to improve productivity, operational efficiency and compliance.
- On-call support for operations, as needed.

Organizational Capability
- Mentor process control team to strengthen capabilities and improve reliability/business continuity.
- Participate in plant flow leadership and technical sub-teams.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving, continuous improvement, planning/prioritization, and influence without authority.
- Set/reinforce rigor standards for automation work products with automation/compliance consultants.

Basic Requirements
- BS in Engineering; 8+ years biopharma automation engineering experience (major pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred).
- Must have experience with biotech or small molecule manufacturing using DeltaV batch.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas.

Additional Preferences
- Experience with greenfield automation using SCADA, DCS, PLC, MES (DeltaV, Rockwell, Syncade, etc).
- Experience driving organizational-level decision-making.
