Role Summary
Senior Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing technical governance and direction as the Subject Matter Expert in electrical power systems for global capital construction projects. Accountable for ownership of critical electrical power system Standard Design Platforms (SDP) for MV and LV switchgear, transformers, LV distribution, UPS, generators, VFDs, power system studies, lighting, photovoltaic and combined heat and power systems. Hybrid role across Johnson & Johnson Manufacturing sites within the United States; candidates from any location may apply. Requires domain expertise in electrical power system design, energy optimization, and electrical safety with experience in GxP environments, commissioning and strong project and construction management skills.
Responsibilities
- Develops, shares and maintains worldwide J&J engineering standards for design, construction, operation and maintenance of Electrical Systems, MV and LV Switchgear, Transformers, LV distribution, UPS, Generators systems, VFDs, Power System Studies, Lighting, Photovoltaic and Combine Heat and Power Systems.
- Recommend standard solutions that increase the speed of project delivery and ultimately the delivery of J&J's final product to the patients.
- Updates and optimizes design, program, processes and/or technical platform to meet current and future needs.
- Develop innovative technology strategies in the areas of energy conservation and electrical safety.
- Drives the selection and engagement of design and application engineering partners and manages their performance (e.g. A&E firms, suppliers, consultants, etc.).
- Understands and integrates the requirements of J&J's Project Management, Procurement, Legal, C&Q and Safety organizations.
- Electrical SME for the organization to support teams in resolving complex maintenance, operation and safety issues.
- Facilitates the leveraging of J&J's buying power through standardization and supplier agreements
- Lead and review electrical design deliverables from J&J Global A&E partners.
Qualifications
- Required: Minimum of ten (10) years of relative technical experience.
- Required: Prior experience in Engineering and Design of building infrastructure electrical power systems.
- Required: Prior experience working on capital construction project teams.
- Required: Prior experience working in a health care manufacturing or research environment (Pharmaceuticals and/or Medical Device).
- Required: Working knowledge of commissioning and maintenance standard methodologies of electrical systems.
- Required: Knowledgeable in construction practices, and the nuances of working with construction managers, design engineering firms, contractors and consultants.
- Required: Experience in leading groups and developing individuals without direct line management responsibility.
- Preferred: Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
- Preferred: Experience in working on multi-international projects.
- Preferred: Experienced in international electrical equipment design and standards.
- Preferred: Experience in Facility Maintenance and/or Manufacturing operations.
- Preferred: Experience in Vendor Contract Management.
- Preferred: Experience leading people.

Education
- University/Bachelorโs degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
