Role Summary

Senior Principal Computational Geneticist located at Pfizer's Kendall Square research facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Role involves leading integrative human genetics efforts to accelerate target identification and validation through multi-omics data integration, collaboration with AI/ML teams, and external partnerships. Focus areas include metabolic diseases and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with opportunities to translate genetic insights into clinical strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quantitative genetics expertise and conduct analyses in collaboration with biologists within the Internal Medicine Research Unit.
  • Apply genetics and functional genomics to inform project teams on target identification, hypothesis validation, disease mechanisms, and biomarker development.
  • Identify potential disease indications and match therapies to patient sub-types.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to integrate high-quality genetic and omics data into exploratory research.
  • Collaborate with machine learning/AI teams to develop tools that deliver genetics/genomics results to stakeholders.
  • Translate genetic data into asset prioritization and trial design with clinical teams.
  • Develop and manage external collaborations and internal/external projects to meet timelines.
  • Communicate study findings to internal partners, leadership, and collaborators; maintain external relationships to support target selection and validation.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.

Qualifications

  • PhD in biology and/or quantitative sciences; post-doctoral experience in genetics, statistical genetics, or genetic epidemiology with at least 5 years relevant experience.
  • Strong statistical/quantitative skills with epidemiology and population-based research knowledge.
  • Experience managing large projects, collaborations, or consortia; demonstrated scientific leadership.
  • Experience analyzing genetic datasets and integrating other omics data (metabolomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics).
  • Proven track record of innovative research in genetics of complex traits; peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience with or use of generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).
  • Curiosity about biological/pathological processes; proficiency in R, Python, Perl, SQL; familiarity with genetics platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams; demonstrated leadership and coaching capabilities.
