Role Summary

Senior Planner at Bio-Techne. Responsible for preparing and maintaining sales forecasts and MPS for kits, creating production schedules for components, and capacity planning. Provides oversight and problem solving for planners, offers backup guidance and enforces standard safety practices. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Manage special requirements of high complexity for OEM customers and distributors (lead-times, lot numbers, expiration dates). Represent planning team in customer-facing meetings as needed.
  • Tackle difficult new SKUs and product families independently.
  • Operate independently on complex/custom customer orders while developing others in these inquiries.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Bio-Techne software and contribute to software improvements.
  • Troubleshoot novel and highly difficult situations independently; update standard practices to mitigate future issues.
  • Determine start dates, due dates, and quantities for manufacturing based on the master production schedule; manage customer and internal requirements while optimizing inventory and minimizing scrap.
  • Maintain forecasts and safety stock using historical data; analyze large data sets using databases and Excel.
  • Implement measures to continuously improve the department.
  • Manage open production orders, past-due production orders, and past-due planned orders.
  • Communicate expectations with manufacturing, quality, and customer care teams and influence them on changes.
  • Monitor and achieve KPIs, including daily review of customer backorders.
  • Identify expired items, salvage usable components, and re-work when possible.
  • Perform rough cut capacity planning with all work centers; make reschedule decisions as needed.
  • Perform user acceptance testing and functionality checks for IT-related projects; propose future IT-related projects.
  • Troubleshoot and solve high-complexity issues independently.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives; develop project plans and assign actions; influence cross-functional teams to drive change.
  • Lead meetings and collaborate with other departments; coordinate multi-department initiatives and influence change.
  • Train and mentor other planners; act as SME for the planning team.
  • May lead projects and new initiatives for the department.
  • Follow company policies, practices, and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrate EPIC values and be recognized by the team and other departments for this.
  • Complete duties of the Planner II role with understanding of Planning’s integration with other departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10+ years of related experience; Master’s degree or APICS certification with a minimum of 5+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience in an ERP environment required; Microsoft Dynamics AX experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Strong computer entry and typing skills desirable.
  • Self-starter, able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, problem-solve, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma training and/or experience preferred.
