Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) supporting the pain program (near-term launch). Scientific liaison to medical/academic community; builds relationships with allied HCPs and stakeholders to disseminate clinical, scientific, and health economic data for pain and Vertex compounds; informs Medical Affairs strategy and medical plan; provides scientific education and latest emerging data.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Build/trust relationships with thought leaders and allied HCPs to improve engagement across pain stakeholders.
- Apply pain expertise to understand relationships across academic centers and integrated delivery networks.
- Use SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in all interactions.
- Apply medical plan to territory planning; capture feedback in CRM to inform internal strategy.
- Use CRM/data analytics tools for timely capture and workload management.
- Communicate clinical/scientific/HE info compliantly to advanced level.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacists, P&T committees, payers, and IDNs; understand payer impact on care delivery.
- Support clinical development/operations (IB content, SIV materials, trial site nominations, end-of-study reviews).
- Represent at medical congresses (sessions/abstracts, booth staffing, summaries; may lead logistics/debrief).
- Mentor/train colleagues; support new hire onboarding.
- Ensure compliance and timely administrative tasks (CRM, expenses, calendar, training, etc.).
Knowledge/Skills & Requirements
- Experience/training with pain-related medical conditions.
- Appraise medical/scientific literature; credible presentations; territory knowledge.
- Strong regulatory/compliance understanding.
- Health economics/outcomes research; payer knowledge.
- Proficient Microsoft Office; English + local language (oral/written).
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., MS/NP/PA); PhD/PharmD/MD desirable. Typically 5+ years MSL or equivalent medical affairs experience.
- Must live within territory near an airport; routine travel required.
