Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) β Pain Program (near-term launch)
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and foster trusted relationships with Thought Leaders and (allied) HCPs/stakeholders involved in pain care decision-making.
- Use pain expertise to understand relationships across academic centers and integrated delivery networks.
- Apply the SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in all interactions (per field coaching).
- Incorporate the medical plan into territory planning and capture feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders and medical strategy.
- Use CRM/data analytics tools for timely capture of interaction details, improved TL engagements, and workload management.
- Communicate clinical/scientific/health economic information compliantly with external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacists, P&T committees, payers, and Integrated Delivery Networks; understand payer impact on care delivery.
- Support clinical development/operations by understanding IB content; present at SIV meetings; provide trial site nominations; review end-of-study data.
- Represent at medical congresses (scientific/abstract coverage, booth staffing, TL interactions, congress summaries; may serve as congress lead).
- Mentor/train less-experienced colleagues and assist with new hire onboarding.
- Conduct activities in compliance with Vertex policies; complete administrative tasks (e.g., CRM entry, mileage, expenses, calendar, training).
Knowledge/Skills
- Experience/training with pain-related medical conditions; appraise medical/scientific literature; present credible clinical/scientific information.
- Knowledge of territory, healthcare regulatory environment, Microsoft Office, compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of payers and Health Economics & Outcomes Research; fluent English and local language.
Requirements
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., MS, NP, PA); PhD/PharmD/MD desirable.
- Typically 5+ years as an MSL (or equivalent medical affairs pharma/biotech experience).
Role/Location
- Must live within North West territory near an airport; routine travel required.
