General Summary:
- Serve as a scientific liaison to the medical/academic community by establishing and maintaining relationships with Health Care Providers/Professionals (HCPs) to disseminate clinical and scientific information about Vertexโ€™ compounds in a timely, ethical, and stakeholder-focused manner.
- Shape the medical plan with external stakeholder insights and contribute to the design and execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and plan.
- Engage HCPs in response to scientific educational and research needs using available Vertex resources; provide emerging data in response to specific inquiries.

Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Develop and foster effective, trusting relationships with Thought Leaders and engage appropriate HCPs to drive scientific engagement across CF care providers and opinion leaders.
- Incorporate all aspects of the SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) into interactions.
- Incorporate the medical plan into interactions and territory planning (listening priorities) and capture feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders and medical strategy.
- Use CRM/analytics tools to capture interaction details and manage workload.
- Communicate scientific information compliantly and effectively with external stakeholders for both disease state and product.
- Apply in-depth payer knowledge in the region and understand payer impact on patient care delivery.
- Support clinical development/clinical operations by using IB content and presenting at SIV meetings; provide trial site nominations as requested; conduct end-of-study data reviews with investigators as needed.
- Represent Vertex at medical congresses (scientific session/abstract coverage, booth staffing, TL interactions, congress summaries; may serve as โ€œMSL congress leadโ€ for logistics and debrief).
- Mentor/train less experienced colleagues (e.g., onboarding).
- Conduct all activities in compliance with Vertex policies and complete administrative tasks (e.g., CRM entry, mileage/expenses, calendar entries, training assignments).

Knowledge And Skills:
- Meet goals within timeframes; plan and complete projects in a changing field environment.
- Create solutions to identified issues; appraise and comprehend medical/scientific literature.
- Present clinical/scientific information credibly in varied settings.
- Knowledge of assigned geographic territory; healthcare regulatory environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to work in a matrix environment.
- Apply knowledge of disease/disease management protocols, healthcare environment, and competitors.
- Working understanding of pharmaceutical compliance/regulatory frameworks; conduct compliant interactions.
- Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research; payer knowledge to support access and appropriate use of Vertex medicines.
- Fluent in English and local language (oral and written).
- Valid driverโ€™s license and acceptable driving record.
- Travel overnight up to 70% (including occasional weekend travel).

Education And Experience:
- Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
- Typically 5+ years of experience as an MSL or in other medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech (or equivalent combination).
- Previous training/experience in designated therapeutic area is helpful.
