Role Summary
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) (Nephrology) supports Povetacicept programs, engaging external healthcare professionals to disseminate clinical and scientific information in a timely and ethical manner. The role contributes to shaping the medical plan and Medical Affairs strategy, responding to scientific educational and research needs, and presenting emerging data as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Develops and fosters relationships with Thought Leaders and HCPs to enable scientific engagement across a network of providers and opinion leaders.
- Incorporates the Scientific Engagement Model (SEM) into interactions to enhance quality of engagement and relationships.
- Integrates the medical plan into interactions and territory planning; captures feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders and medical strategy.
- Understands CRM/data analytics tools to capture interaction details and inform future TL engagements and workload management.
- Communicates scientific information effectively and compliantly to external stakeholders on disease state and product topics.
- Understands payer landscape and impact on patient care delivery.
- Assists clinical development/clinical operations by understanding Investigatorโรรดs Brochure content and presenting it; nominates trial sites and provides end-of-study data reviews as needed.
- Represents Vertex at medical congresses with session/abstract coverage, TL interactions, and debriefs; may provide logistical guidance for congress coverage.
- Mentors or trains colleagues with less experience (e.g., onboarding new hires).
- Performs all activities in compliance with Vertex policies and completes administrative tasks (CRM entry, mileage reporting, expenses, calendar entries, training assignments, etc.).
Qualifications
- Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA) required.
- 3โรรฌ4+ years of experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology programs or in other medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous training or experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful.

- Knowledge of payers and medical information needs to support access and appropriate use of Vertex medicines.
- Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).

- Advanced degree in biomedical or life sciences required (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
