Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison (Nephrology) for Povetacicept programs. Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers to disseminate clinical and scientific information, contribute to shaping the medical plan, and engage HCPs with scientific educational and research needs. Supports medical affairs strategy and responds to inquiries with latest emerging data.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and fosters relationships with Thought Leaders and HCPs to engage a large network of providers and opinion leaders, understanding inter-relationships within academic centers.
  • Incorporates Scientific Engagement Model into interactions to enhance quality of engagement and relationships.
  • Integrates medical plan into interactions and territory planning; captures feedback in CRM to inform strategy.
  • Understands CRM/data analytics tools to capture interaction details and enhance future TL engagements.
  • Discusses scientific information compliantly with external stakeholders at an advanced level of communication.
  • Understands payers in the region and impact of payers on patient care delivery.
  • Assists clinical development/operations by understanding product insert content, nominating trial sites, and providing end-of-study data reviews as needed.
  • Represents Vertex at medical congresses with session/abstract coverage and TL interactions; may provide logistical guidance for congress debrief.
  • Mentor or train colleagues with less experience (e.g., new hire onboarding).
  • Performs activities in compliance with policy and completes administrative tasks (CRM, mileage, expenses, calendar, training).

Qualifications

  • Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA) required.
  • 3–4 years of experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology or related medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech, or an equivalent education/experience combination.
  • Previous training or experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful.

  • Ability to present clinical/scientific information credibly in varied settings.
  • Strong knowledge of the geographic territory and healthcare regulatory environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of T1D management protocols and healthcare landscape to articulate medical and scientific value.
  • Understanding of compliance/regulatory frameworks governing the pharmaceutical industry and how to conduct compliant interactions.
  • Knowledge of payers and medical information needs to support access and appropriate use of Vertex medicines.
  • Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).

Education

  • Minimum: advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
  • Experience: 3–4 years as an MSL in Nephrology or related medical affairs role; prior therapeutic area experience is helpful.
