Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) (Nephrology)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops trusting relationships with Thought Leaders and other HCPs; engages a broad network of Nephrology opinion leaders.
- Applies the SEM (Scientific Engagement Model) in all interactions.
- Incorporates the medical plan into territory planning and captures feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders.
- Uses CRM/analytics tools to capture interaction details, enhance engagements, and manage workload.
- Communicates scientific information compliantly to external stakeholders for disease state and product.
- Applies in-depth knowledge of regional payers and impacts on patient care delivery.
- Supports clinical development/operations by understanding IB content; presents IB materials; provides trial site nominations; reviews end-of-study data with investigators.
- Represents Vertex at medical congresses (session/abstract coverage, booth staffing, TL interactions, summaries, and debrief as needed).
- May mentor/train colleagues (e.g., new hire onboarding).
- Performs all activities in compliance with Vertex policies and completes required administrative tasks.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to deliver high-quality results on timelines; manage projects in changing field environments.
- Ability to appraise medical/scientific literature; present credible clinical/scientific information.
- Knowledge of territory, healthcare regulatory environment, compliance frameworks, payers, and Health Economics & Outcomes Research.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
Education and Experience
- Advanced biomedical/life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
- Minimum 4 yearsβ experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology programs (or equivalent pharma/biotech medical affairs experience). Prior therapeutic-area training helpful.
Pay Range
- $171,300β$256,900 (eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards).
