Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison (Nephrology) for Povetacicept programs. The Sr MSL will serve as a scientific liaison to the medical/academic community, establishing and maintaining relationships with health care providers to disseminate clinical and scientific information in a timely, ethical, and stakeholder-focused manner. They will contribute to shaping the medical plan by providing external stakeholders' insights and support the design and execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and plan. They will engage HCPs in response to scientific educational and research needs using Vertex resources and provide the latest emerging data in response to inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and foster relationships with Thought Leaders and other appropriate HCPs, engaging a network of T1D and transplant-team care providers and opinion leaders, understanding inter-relationships within and between academic centers to enhance engagements
  • Incorporate all aspects of the Scientific Engagement Model into interactions to enhance quality and relationships
  • Integrate the medical plan into interactions and territory planning, capturing feedback in the CRM to inform internal stakeholders and shape the medical strategy
  • Understand CRM/data analytics tools to capture interaction details and use analytics to enhance future TL engagements and manage workload
  • Discuss scientific information effectively and compliantly with external stakeholders at an advanced level for disease state and product information
  • possess knowledge of payers in the region and understand their impact on patient care delivery
  • Assist clinical development/clinical operations by understanding IB content, presenting IB material, nominating trial sites, and providing end-of-study data reviews as needed
  • Represent Vertex at medical congresses with session/abstract coverage, TL interactions, and contribute to congress summaries; may provide logistical guidance for abstract/session coverage and debriefs
  • Mentor or train colleagues with less experience, including onboarding
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with Vertex policies and perform administrative tasks timely (CRM entry, mileage, expenses, calendar entries, training, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Minimum advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA)
  • 3–4 years of experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology programs or other medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech, or equivalent education/experience
  • Previous training or experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful

  • Proficient knowledge of T1D management protocols, healthcare environment, and landscape to articulate medical and scientific value
  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks governing the pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of payers and medical information needs to support access and appropriate use of Vertex medicines
  • Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)

Education

  • Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA)
