Role Summary
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) (Nephrology) supports Povetacicept programs, serving as a scientific liaison to the medical/academic community to disseminate clinical and scientific information about Vertex compounds in a timely, ethical, and stakeholder-focused manner. This role contributes to shaping the medical plan and medical affairs strategy, engaging HCPs to meet educational and research needs with available Vertex resources, and providing the latest data in response to inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Develops and fosters relationships with Thought Leaders and other appropriate HCPs to enable scientific engagement with a network of TLs and care providers; understands inter-relationships within academic centers to enhance engagements
- Incorporates all aspects of the Scientific Engagement Model into interactions to enhance quality of engagement and relationships
- Integrates the medical plan into interactions and territory planning, and captures feedback in the CRM to inform internal stakeholders and shape medical strategy
- Understands CRM/data analytics tools for timely capture of interaction details and uses analytics to improve future TL engagements and workload management
- Communicates scientific information effectively and compliantly to external stakeholders across disease states and products
- Gleans insights on payers and their impact on patient care delivery in the region
- Assists clinical development/operations by understanding Investigatorโรรดs Brochure content, presenting materials, nominating trial sites, and providing end-of-study data reviews as needed
- Represents Vertex at medical congresses with session/abstract coverage, TL interactions, summaries, and possible logistical support for sessions and debriefs
- Mentors or trains colleagues with less experience, including onboarding new hires
- Maintains compliance with Vertex policies and completes administrative tasks (CRM entries, mileage, expenses, calendar entries, training assignments, etc.)
Qualifications
- Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA) required
- 3โรรฌ4+ years of experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology programs or other medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful

- Fluent in English (oral and written)
Education
- Advanced degree in biomedical or life sciences required (e.g., Masters, NP, PA)
