Role Summary
Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr MSL) for Nephrology programs, focusing on Povetacicept in IgA Nephropathy. Serves as a scientific liaison to the medical/academic community, establishing and maintaining relationships with HCPs to disseminate clinical and scientific information in a timely, ethical, and stakeholder-focused manner. Contributes to shaping the medical plan and executes Medical Affairs strategy, engaging HCPs for educational and research needs and providing emerging data in response to inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Develops and fosters effective, trusted relationships with Thought Leaders and other appropriate HCPs, engaging a broad network of T1D and transplant-team care providers and opinion leaders; understands inter-relationships within academic centers to enhance engagements
- Incorporates Scientific Engagement Model (SEM) into interactions to enhance quality and relationships
- Integrates the medical plan into interactions and territory planning while capturing feedback in CRM to inform internal stakeholders and shape strategy
- Understands CRM/data analytics tools to capture interaction details and use analytics to enhance future TL engagements and workload management
- Communicates scientific information compliantly at an advanced level to external stakeholders
- Holds in-depth knowledge of payers and their impact on patient care delivery
- Assists clinical development/clinical operations by understanding IB content, presenting IB material, nominating trial sites, and providing end-of-study data reviews as needed
- Represents Vertex at medical congresses with session/abstract coverage and TL interactions; contributes to summaries and may assist with logistics and debriefs
- May mentor or train colleagues, including onboarding new hires
- Maintains compliance with Vertex policies and completes administrative tasks such as CRM entries, mileage, expenses, calendar entries, and training
Qualifications
- Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA)
- 3–4 years minimum of experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology or other medical affairs roles in pharma/biotech
- Previous training or experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful

- Knowledge of payers and medical information needs to support access and appropriate use of Vertex medicines
- Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
Education
- Advanced degree in biomedical or life sciences (e.g., Masters, NP, PA)
- Experience: 3–4 years as an MSL in Nephrology or related medical affairs roles; experience in the designated therapeutic area is helpful
