Role Summary

Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) – Immunology-GI for the Rocky Mountains territory (CO, UT, MT, WY, ID). This field-based medical affairs role provides fair, balanced scientific information and education to opinion leaders and healthcare professionals; supports investigator-initiated research; and develops and executes a territory plan with targeted educational activities. Requires an advanced medical degree with TA experience and readiness to travel up to 75–80%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to opinion leaders, health care professionals, and internal partners as required by scientific and business needs.
  • Serve as an established scientific and clinical knowledge lead on current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products per Therapeutic Area alignment; stay abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in the TA.
  • Build external relationships with identified OLs and health care providers (MD, PA, NP, RN, Pharm.D., biocoordinators) and develop and manage a geographical territory; engagements can be virtual or in-person, with a prioritization of in-person engagements when appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain a territory strategic plan, including educational activities with identified OLs, HCPs, institutions, and community practices.
  • Demonstrate foundational competencies in Influence & Results Focused, Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, Product & Therapeutic Area Knowledge, and Data Insights & Dissemination.
  • Rapidly identify and compliantly collaborate with field-based partners to ensure support of healthcare providers and positively impact patient care.

  • Conduct all activities in accordance with current regulatory and health care compliance guidelines.
  • Travel primarily within the assigned geography (CO, UT, MT, WY, ID) with infrequent travel outside; travel estimated at 75–80%.

Qualifications

  • Required: PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree; NP (Nurse Practitioner) or PA (Physician Assistant) with 3+ years of TA clinical experience.
  • Required: 3+ years of MSL experience, and/or 3+ years of relevant work experience (clinical, research, or related pharma work).
  • Required: Significant experience giving presentations.
  • Required: Ability to travel up to 75–80% including overnight travel and some weekend commitments.
  • Required: A valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Required: Reside within the defined assigned territory.
  • Preferred: Knowledge or experience in the relevant TA and/or Immunology.
  • Preferred: Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and use of computers and remote technologies.
