Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL)
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers in Metabolic and Oncology therapeutic areas.
- Identify emerging thought leaders in target therapeutic areas.
- Develop and execute projects and program material aligned with evolving launch readiness plans.
- Identify and communicate key clinical and research issues/insights from KOLs to appropriate departments.
- Provide medical education for HCPs via virtual/on-site presentations at healthcare institutions, investigator meetings, conferences, advisory boards, and regional meetings.
- Provide scientific support for medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and internal/external training initiatives.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of the therapy area, company products, research trends, and competitive landscape; serve as a trusted scientific information source.
- Provide clinical presentations and respond to unsolicited questions in academic/community/HCP settings (group and one-on-one).
- Communicate emerging data and product clinical experience objectively (benefits/risks) through scientific exchange.
- Support data generation activities (company-sponsored studies, collaboration studies, ISTs, and Expanded Access Program).
- Contribute to launch readiness plan development; manage relevant budget where needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory, and HEOR teams to align data strategies.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize evidence/data gaps across the product lifecycle.
- Facilitate advisory boards and expert consultations to validate data gaps.
- Support development of key processes/SOPs for IIST/RWE from proposal/protocol to contracting and publication.
- Align evidence generation with regulatory requirements, payer evidence needs, and competitive differentiation.
- Monitor competitive landscape and scientific trends to sustain differentiation.
- Document and forward adverse events and product complaints per policy; adhere to applicable Codes of Practice and maintain ethical conduct.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced medical/clinical/nursing degree or similar (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 yearsโ experience as an MSL or comparable industry/clinical role; minimum 2 yearsโ experience in rare disease.
- Willing to travel 60โ75% (field activities required).
- Valid driverโs license and live within 60 miles of an airport served by at least one major airline.
