Role Summary
The Senior Medical Manager is a part of the US Medical Nephrology team, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas and pipeline to improve meaningful patient outcomes. As a key member of the US Medical Nephrology and reporting to the Nephrology Medical Director, the Senior Medical Manager will collaborate closely with Medical Operations to coordinate and execute the Nephrology key medical strategies and tactics.
Responsibilities
- Be a credible/medical scientific expert who is accountable as the primary Nephrology medical representative and process driver that reviews and coordinates submissions for both the Commercial Promotional (PRC) and Scientific (non-promotional) Material Review (DSMR) teams to ensure consistency of therapeutic area content and communication per established standards.
- Engage with cross-functional partners (Legal/Compliance, Regulatory Affairs and Commercial) from the US Medical perspective to ensure content is medically sound, compliant, adequately referenced and aligned with medical strategy.
- As the primary point of contact for medical communication agencies, supports project planning for medical tactics and facilitates activities for content development, as assigned.
- Coordinate and liaise with other internal stakeholders (eg, Global Medical, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, R&D) to ensure scientific content and communications developed by the US Medical team are aligned with the Global Scientific Platform (content including but not limited to field medical slide decks, advisory board material, congress materials, and medical training).
- Coordinate & implement initiatives for the US Medical Nephrology Team and US cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Required: PharmD, PhD, MD, DNP or other advanced degree in the life sciences
- Required: Minimum two yearsβΓΓ΄ experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Required: Excellent communication (written and oral), including presentation skills
- Required: Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively operate and exert influence within a highly matrixed organization
- Required: Solid project management skills to include the ability to take initiative to solve complex and challenging problems
- Preferred: Clinical experience as a subject matter expert in the respective area is preferred
- Preferred: Previous work in medical communications and/or medical information
- Preferred: Relevant experience with regulatory review processes in Medical Affairs is desired
