Position Summary
- Senior Medical Director, GI/GU (Medical Affairs)
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior clinical and scientific voice for Caris in GI/GU oncology; represent the company at national/international meetings, academic institutions, and major cancer centers.
- Deliver high-impact public and scientific presentations; translate complex genomic science into clear, clinically relevant insights.
- Cultivate and maintain KOL, clinical collaborator, and POA member institution relationships.
- Partner with internal teams across R&D, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Business Development, and Marketing to ensure clinical accuracy and alignment in messaging/product positioning.
- Advise on clinical strategy and evidence generation (prospective trials, retrospective analyses, real-world data initiatives).
- Provide scientific thought leadership (advisory boards, symposia, webinars, publications, slide decks).
- Mentor field-based medical personnel (e.g., Medical Science Liaisons).
- Collaborate on GI/GU oncology education programs, internal trainings, and CME initiatives.
- Bridge field insights to internal teams to inform product innovation and R&D priorities.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO, board-certified in Medical Oncology (and/or Internal Medicine) with significant GI/GU oncology experience.
- 3+ years recent clinical practice managing solid tumors with focused GI/GU malignancies expertise.
- Proven excellence in scientific communication, public speaking, and KOL engagement.
- Ability to translate clinical/molecular insights into actionable strategies supporting adoption or evidence generation.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence across scientific, clinical, and commercial domains.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of Internet for business use.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of molecular profiling, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy in GI/GU oncology.
- 3+ years in a senior Medical Affairs/Medical Director (or equivalent) role in biotech, diagnostics, or pharma.
- Experience developing scientific education/publications or multi-institutional clinical collaborations.
- Established relationships with academic GI/GU oncologists and professional societies (e.g., IASLC, ASCO, ESMO, AACR).
