Pay Range: $24.40 - $33.55
Position Summary
The Senior Technician is a highly skilled technical expert responsible for supporting complex laboratory operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring high-quality manufacturing outcomes. Provides advanced technical expertise, serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in equipment and workflow processes, and contributes to cross-functional project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement using in-depth knowledge of SOPs, laboratory processes, and technical methods.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex equipment functionality issues.
- Act as an SME in workflows and manufacturing processes; mentor less experienced team members.
- May temporarily coordinate daily task assignments in the absence of a team lead.
- Identify and implement lab enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and operations.
- Manufacture complex/high-difficulty items with consistent accuracy and quality.
- Ensure weekly production schedule completion through planning, organization, and prioritization.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform complex quality assurance tasks (onboarding support, equipment validation, SOP revisions, new RMS documentation).
- Collaborate on high-impact/technically complex projects; may lead moderate-complexity projects.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to complete interdepartmental tasks.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years relevant experience; or associate degree preferred with 2β4 years relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelorβs degree in related field.
Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of standard biotech lab practices (pipetting, weighing, pH measurement, mixing, spectrophotometry).
- Knowledge of basic scientific calculations and statistics.
- Documentation/record-keeping and SOP adherence.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new techniques/processes/equipment quickly.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to plan/prioritize/manage multiple tasks; work independently and collaboratively.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Laboratory and production environment with chemical/reagent and lab equipment exposure.
- Standard business hours (8:00 AMβ5:00 PM); occasional variation.
- Lift/handle 5β50 lbs; stand/walk and perform repetitive tasks; manual dexterity for equipment and fine measurements.
