Position Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and maintaining manufacturing processes across Filling, Kitting, Packaging, and Shipping. Ensures systems run to specifications and comply with regulations while supporting cross-functional teams to optimize materials, labor, equipment, and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design, architecture, and deployment of advanced automation systems (robotics, vision systems, PLCs, cobots) across manufacturing operations.
- Define and execute automation strategy and roadmap aligned to business objectives (cost, quality, throughput, scalability).
- Drive end-to-end process optimization using Lean Six Sigma, data analytics, and digital manufacturing tools to improve KPIs (OTD, cycle time, yield, labor efficiency).
- Own capital automation projects from concept through commissioning: business case, equipment specs, vendor selection, FAT/SAT, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Serve as technical authority for automation systems: troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to industrialize new products and scale manufacturing.
- Establish and standardize engineering best practices (automation standards, validation protocols, documentation).
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Drive supplier strategy/partnerships: qualification, performance management, co-development.
- Champion digital transformation (MES integration, data systems, smart factory technologies).
Qualifications
- Masterβs with 2β5 years relevant experience; or Bachelorβs with 5β8 years; or Associate degree with 10+ years.
- 5+ years automation or process engineering.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
Skills/Abilities
- Lean Six Sigma and CI knowledge; strong communication/organization; collaborate across departments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Minitab/JMP.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
Working/Physical Conditions
- Onsite supporting multiple production departments; may require extended hours.
- Ability to stand, move through production areas, and operate equipment as necessary.
