Role Summary
Senior Manager, Study Delivery Resource Management (SDRM) provides strategic oversight for resource planning and allocation across global clinical programs and countries, ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities, business objectives, and operational capacity. Serves as a senior leadership partner to key GDO functions and may act as the single point of accountability for oversight of a Full-Service Provider (FSP).
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of accurate, forward-looking resource forecasts and hiring plans at the program, study, and country levels, ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities and delivery timelines.
- Analyze historical and real-time data to identify trends, anticipate capacity gaps, and identify opportunities and mitigations.
- Leverage AI, predictive analytics, and advanced modelling tools to improve forecast speed and precision.
- Synthesize complex analysis into concise, actionable insights for senior leadership, framing recommendations within the broader strategic and operational context.
- Resource Allocation: Serve as the single point of accountability for ensuring consistent, equitable, and strategically aligned resource allocation decisions across multiple programs and geographies.
- Proactively identify, manage and communicate resourcing risks.
- Provide clear context and rationale for allocation decisions, maintaining transparency and trust with stakeholders.
- Partner with SDRM managers to horizon-scan for future resource challenges and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Lead the resolution of complex or sensitive allocation scenarios diplomatically, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities.
- Recruitment Strategy & Workforce Planning: Develop, own and oversee hiring plans in partnership with HR and GDO SPOs, ensuring recruitment aligns with forecasted demand at the program and country levels.
- Use data-driven insights to influence workforce planning decisions, succession planning, and skills development strategies.
- FSP Oversight & Strategic Collaboration: Provide leadership oversight for the FSP engagement model, ensuring contractual and operational commitments are met.
- Oversee the Work Request Form processes and quality oversight activities.
- Facilitate strategic FSP Functional Management Team (FMT) meetings, using performance data and quality checks to guide decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management: Act as the trusted liaison to functional leadership, program partners, and country resource points of contact.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders to align on priorities, anticipate needs, and manage interdependencies.
- Foster a culture of open communication, trust, and shared accountability between internal teams and FSP partners.
- Process Improvement: Lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives to build efficiency and enhance decision-making quality.
- Integrate AI-driven solutions and automation into core SDRM processes for efficiency and scalability.
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree and 2 years of clinical execution experience OR Master’s degree and 6 years of clinical execution experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of clinical execution experience OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of clinical execution experience OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of clinical execution experience
- Required: In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
- Preferred: 7+ years of experience in life sciences, including 5+ years in biopharmaceutical clinical research.
- Preferred: Experience managing teams across multiple geographies.
- Preferred: Experience overseeing CROs and other clinical vendors.
- Preferred: Strong understanding of global clinical trial operations and resource management.
