Position Overview
- Develop, lead, and manage the Biomarkers category strategy supporting Innovative Medicine R&D Clinical Development.
- Translate scientific/clinical needs into market-informed category strategies, supplier strategies, sourcing approaches, contracting pathways, and governance models.
- Manage a technically complex supply market across exploratory biomarkers, biomarker assays, companion diagnostics, assay development, specialized testing platforms, and adjacent laboratory services.

Category Scope
- Exploratory biomarker testing and custom assays (external labs)
- Primary/secondary biomarker assay services (direct and via Central Labs)
- Companion diagnostics/assay-related services
- Molecular/cellular technologies, immunoassays, pathology, NGS, digital pathology, multi-omics and emerging capabilities

Responsibilities
- Determine global business needs and refresh category strategy (supplier segmentation, preferred vendor models, governance, contracting/implementation).
- Partner cross-functionally (Biomarker Development, Clinical Trials, stakeholders, Vendor Management, Legal, Finance, Quality, Data Science/Digital, Global Services sourcing).
- Source using market intelligence; support RFx events, supplier evaluation and negotiation.
- Lead supplier relationship management and governance; manage supplier onboarding/transition and performance.
- Deliver business plan commitments (savings, cost/cash flow, impact goals); drive project execution and reporting; use data/analytics/GenAI tools.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelorโ€™s required; Masterโ€™s/advanced degree preferred.
- Experience/Skills: 8+ years related experience; business acumen; influencing; senior-exec leadership/collaboration; strong communication/presentation; procurement fundamentals (spend/category/supplier/negotiation); learning agility; project management.
- Preferred: pharma/MedTech/clinical development/lab services/diagnostics/central lab/CRO; biomarker/companion diagnostics/assay development/central labs experience; cross-geography supplier work; analytics/market intelligence/GenAI for sourcing/negotiation; category strategy refresh; stakeholder partnership across scientific/tech/regulatory/quality/finance/legal/procurement.
- Other: English; travel up to 10%.
