Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Project Controls – Scheduling leads the compliant deployment of Johnson & Johnson Worldwide Procedures and E&PS Schedule Controls tools, guidelines and industry best practices throughout project lifecycles. Based in Wilson, NC, this role requires a strong background in collaborative planning, scheduling, cashflow management and risk management, and is part of the Americas Project Controls & Assurance team supporting strategic onsite projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Director, Project Controls – Site Lead on Front End Loading (FEL) / early end-to-end timeline efforts, helping define project scope, priorities, and resources.
- Support the implementation of Project Delivery processes with a focus on schedule and cashflow objectives, risk mitigation, and adherence to financial procedures.
- Develop and align Capital Appropriation Request(s) detailed schedules and cashflow projections to enable seamless project approvals.
- Track project deliverables and monitor/report progress to stakeholders, including status reports on risks and solutions; maintain efficient change control processes.
- Implement key Risk Management processes across all stages of project delivery (Cost & Schedule risks).
- Attend meetings during engineering, construction, and commissioning/qualification phases.
- Evaluate performance of Designers, Construction Management, and C&Q firms with respect to schedule control, cashflow, and change management.
- Support management in evaluating time-impact and/or cashflow-impact change orders and forecasts.
- Evaluate subcontract procurement plans and track performance against target dates; review subcontract schedules and cashflow projections prior to award.
- Review project time contingency and monitor usage; review payment applications for progress and contract compliance.
- Maintain and update the 21-Tab / ESR to reflect funding status, milestones, cashflow, and safety metrics.
- Manage overall schedule development/integration across engineering/design, procurement, construction, IT tasks, commissioning, operational readiness, process validation and technology transfer; perform hands-on schedule development and reporting.
- Ensure identification of critical/near-critical paths and develop mitigation plans; review timeline and logic networks to establish a true baseline.
- Support procurement strategy development to meet timelines and cashflow objectives; identify opportunities/risks and recommend actions to optimize schedule performance.
Qualifications
- Required: B.S. in Business, Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
- Required: PMI certifications: PMP, PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP), PSP, or equivalent.
- Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Power BI, Primavera P6 and/or Oracle Primavera Cloud; Monte Carlo analysis.
- Experience, Skills & Knowledge: Minimum 10 years of project controls experience on major capital projects; extensive knowledge of engineering/construction/CQV/project controls execution; track record on complex capital projects > $50MM in relevant industries.
- Preferred: Familiarity with J&J Project Management approaches; experience with web-based project management systems and Monte Carlo Cost analysis; FDA-regulated industry experience.
Education
- B.S. in Business, Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management from an accredited institution is required.
