Role Summary

Senior Manager, Procurement, Animal Sciences at Bristol Myers Squibb. Responsible for strategic procurement for Animal Sciences, including developing category strategy, partnering with key stakeholders in Research, executing SRM programs for top-tier suppliers, and delivering procurement initiatives to high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Animal Sciences category strategies as a subject-matter expert, coordinating issues across multiple business units, human resources, legal, and finance.
  • Lead, teach and direct Sourcing professionals in Strategic Category Management and sourcing processes, including spend management analysis and stakeholder management.
  • Strategic business partnering with R&D units and Procurement colleagues, as well as Legal, HR, Strategy and Planning, Business Development and Finance.
  • Lead sourcing events across categories to select preferred suppliers, ensuring adherence to buying SOPs.
  • Create robust Supplier Relationship Management programs with category and supplier segmentation, metrics/KPI development, scorecards, and contract management.
  • Share best practices with Global Procurement and continuously improve site strategy.
  • Consolidate market, supplier, and internal data to develop a cohesive, business-aligned strategy at category and sub-category levels.
  • Engage and manage relationships with R&D leadership, understanding business needs and alignment with the marketplace.
  • Execute critical R&D agreements for strategic projects.
  • Report procurement key performance measures (operational metrics, savings, supplier adherence, customer service).
  • Identify market trends and innovative technologies to educate stakeholders on leading procurement practices and solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. is required; M.S./M.B.A. preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in business, multi-disciplinary procurement and/or research; prior R&D experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices required.
  • Experience leading large, change-management projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to structure enterprise-level partnerships; cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to lead projects with significant global/site impact and manage business complexities toward sustainable solutions.
  • Proactive, creative, and analytic approach to continuous improvement in procurement services.
  • Knowledge or proficiency with Ariba and Icertis is preferred.
