Role Summary

Senior Manager, Procurement, Animal Sciences. Responsible for strategic procurement in Animal Sciences, including category strategy development, partnering with key stakeholders in Research, and implementing supplier relationship management programs to ensure excellence in procurement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Animal Sciences category strategies as a subject matter expert, coordinating across multiple internal stakeholders including human resources, legal, and finance.
  • Lead, mentor, and direct Sourcing professionals in Strategic Category Management and core sourcing processes.
  • Strategic business partnering with R&D units and Procurement colleagues, Legal, HR, Strategy and Planning, Business Development, and Finance.
  • Lead sourcing events to select preferred and approved suppliers while ensuring compliance with buying SOPs.
  • Develop robust Supplier Relationship Management programs including segmentation, metrics/KPI development, scorecards, and contract management.
  • Share best practices with Global Procurement and continuously improve site strategy.
  • Consolidate market, supplier, and internal data to develop a cohesive, business-aligned category strategy at category and sub-category levels.
  • Engage with R&D leadership to understand needs and ensure marketplace fulfillment, maintaining alignment accountability.
  • Execute critical R&D agreements for strategic projects.
  • Report procurement performance measures (operational metrics, savings, supplier adherence, customer service).
  • Identify market trends and innovative technologies to educate stakeholders on industry practices and procurement solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education of a B.S./B.A.; M.S./M.B.A. preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in multi-disciplined procurement and/or research; prior R&D experience in biopharmaceuticals/pharmaceuticals/medical devices required.
  • Experience leading large, change-management projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to structure enterprise-level partnerships; cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Ability to manage complex initiatives and deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Proactive, creative, and analytical approach to continuous improvement in procurement services.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Ariba and Icertis preferred.
