Brief Description
- Join the R&D Pipeline Innovation team (Corporate Development) to provide timely, decision-enabling R&D assessment of potential Jazz investment opportunities (e.g., M&A, in-licensing) in neuroscience and oncology.
Responsibilities
- Identify new business development & licensing (BD&L) opportunities by:
- Maintaining databases of target opportunities and prior evaluation history
- Conducting disease landscape evaluations (internal sources and external vendors)
- Monitoring industry trends, conferences, and scientific literature
- Supporting additional data gathering/analytics
- Traveling to external conferences/meetings (10%β20% of working hours)
- Support diligence and technical assessment by:
- Coordinating R&D diligence with functions including Research, Early/Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Project Management, Regulatory, Quality, Safety/Pharmacovigilance
- Evaluating drug development aspects (mechanistic rationale, preclinical evidence, clinical utility, regulatory feasibility) and business aspects (unmet need, competitive landscape, strategic fit)
- Synthesizing findings into recommendations with Pipeline Innovation, New Product Planning, and Corporate Development
- Tracking/summarizing evaluations and generating diligence summary documents
- Presenting diligence findings to senior leadership
- Representing R&D in interactions with KOLs, companies, academic institutions, etc.
- Managing KOL contracts while contributing to outreach/network expansion
- Support R&D by:
- Maintaining the quarterly RNCD pipeline prioritization scoresheet
- Supporting regular neuroscience and oncology Advisory Boards
Qualifications
- Ph.D. with a good understanding of molecular biology
- 2+ yearsβ experience in pharmaceutical/biotech research, business development, or consulting with broad drug development understanding
- Oncology experience preferred
