Role Summary

The Senior Manager, Materials Management is responsible for the overall performance of Materials Management for the manufacturing site, developing strategies and tactical means to support Operations and the global supply chain while upholding safety, quality, delivery, and P&L (cost savings). The Senior Manager leads strategic objectives for the business, including the Alternative Supplier Qualification program, material risk review, and technology/automation advancements. They manage a mixed team of people managers for warehouse and materials management, and individual contributors for Materials Planning, overseeing staffing, performance, training, and engagement for 40+ employees. They ensure on-time delivery of materials and finished goods, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with EH&S, Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, Procurement, and Finance, while escalating issues to site leadership as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for an organization of 40+ employees supporting materials planning, receiving/warehouse, materials management (mfg support), and shipping/logistics, to assure materials and finished goods are delivered on time, in full, and in perfect condition, with the highest level of safety and quality.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing Inventories valued above $100 million.
  • Establish annual operating budget and measure financial performance following operations Finance guidelines. Own expense budgets over US$10 million.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement efforts to meet service, quality, and cost objectives. Drive the strategies and effectiveness of the functions; responsible for business results, providing reliable processes, data driven problem solving, and robust root cause analysis. Facilitate analysis of opportunities and safety risks, identify impacts and recommendations for the business, and demonstrate leadership in setting and aligning project direction.
  • Provide training and development for team, and support and motivate teams to ensure timely and successful delivery of projects as well as stakeholder relationships and expectations.
  • Ensure compliance to all DOT/IATA, OSHA/Safety, and regulatory requirements across process areas.
  • Partner proactively with safety, regulatory, and quality teams to continuously improve processes. Ensure quality and compliance in all processes and support change control and quality events/records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Management or Supply Chain field, MBA preferred
  • DOT/IATA Certified โ€“ familiarization with the certification
  • APICS certification and training/certification in OPEX principles (Lean/Six Sigma) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in small to mid-size Manufacturing Warehouse operations in a regulated GMP industry, including incoming material receiving, inventory control/cycle count, manufacturing support, shipping/transportation. 5 years of experience as a people leader
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and collaboration skills; establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to influence colleagues without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to a desired outcome and effectively communicate with senior level management
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and prioritize workload efficiently
  • Strong statistical / analytical skills to drive root cause problem solving and solutioning
  • Basic knowledge of systems and business applications e.g. SAP, Maximo, PowerBI, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project)

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Management or Supply Chain field
  • MBA preferred
