Senior Manager, Manufacturing – Material Handling
Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide teams responsible for 24/7 GMP material handling operations supporting manufacturing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enable drug substance manufacturing.
- Lead and develop Material Handling front-line managers overseeing receipt, staging, movement, storage, inventory control, and delivery of GMP materials.
- Own organizational design, hiring, development, and training compliance for Material Handling.
- Provide leadership and oversight for operational readiness for facility start-up and sustained commercial manufacturing.
- Execute and continuously improve end-to-end material flow processes.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, material reconciliation, cycle counting, and GMP inventory control to meet regulatory/internal quality requirements.
- Own the Manufacturing Material Transfer Equipment program (lifecycle management, availability, qualification, maintenance coordination, operational readiness).
- Partner with Supply Chain and Warehouse Operations to optimize staging, replenishment, and production scheduling while minimizing operational risk.
- Troubleshoot material availability issues; establish robust escalation and 24/7 support.
- Lead investigations for material handling deviations, inventory discrepancies, and material management events; drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Drive Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
- Lead/support internal and regulatory inspections for areas of responsibility.
- Deliver financial commitments by optimizing labor, inventory utilization, and operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 2 years Manufacturing & Operations experience; OR Master’s + 6 years; OR Bachelor’s + 8 years; OR Associate’s + 10 years; OR High School/GED + 12 years.
- 2 years managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing allocation of resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GMP manufacturing leadership experience in biologics/pharmaceuticals.
- Experience leading GMP material handling/logistics/inventory/warehouse operations supporting manufacturing.
- Operational Excellence/Lean/continuous improvement implementation experience.
- Experience with electronic inventory systems (SAP, MES, electronic batch records, barcode/RFID, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of GMP material management, inventory control, material traceability, and regulatory compliance.
- Cross-functional experience with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Process Development.
- Strong communication/leadership/organizational/problem-solving; ability to influence across organizations.
- Ability to develop high-performing, inclusive, accountable, collaborative teams.
