Role Summary

The Senior Manager, HOCT, BD Analytics is a critical member of the BD and Strategy Analytics team. The Senior Manager serves as a key internal consultant to BMS's leadership team by conducting financial analysis of business development opportunities and by providing valuation insights for deals, with the goal of enabling value-driven R&D & M&A decisions. They also act as integrators of other analytic services, helping development teams ensure that they make the most of BMS's full analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, forecasting, decision analysis, risk assessment, as well as prior experience working in the pharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead/facilitate product development teams and appropriate matrix representatives in identifying compelling development strategies for further analysis.
  • Perform financial analysis of development options and provide insights into tradeoffs to enable value-driven R&D decisions.
  • Clearly communicate findings to development teams and to senior management.
  • Act as integrators of other analytic services to maximize the use of BMS's analytic capabilities.
  • Learn other teams' capabilities and determine when they should be engaged to support recommendations that serve BMS and patients.
  • Develop commercial and development expertise to support and challenge development teams.
  • Quantify technical and regulatory risks and integrate assessments with projections of commercial revenues and costs to value R&D investments for portfolio planning.
  • Provide support for evaluation of licensing and business development opportunities within their therapeutic area and cross-therapeutic area portfolio reviews.
  • Raise key issues and opportunities to team and therapeutic area management.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in decision analysis and risk assessment.

Qualifications

  • The position requires 4+ years of forecasting, financial modeling, valuation, and/or decision analysis experience, utilizing probability for revenue risk adjustments, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline, with significant training in Finance, Management Science, or Decision Analysis, is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise at structuring and completing insightful financial analyses and communicating insights to senior management.
  • Experience in business development and commercial valuation preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong financial valuation modeling and analysis capabilities using spreadsheet software.
  • Experience using decision analysis techniques to evaluate investments under uncertainty and familiarity with standard Excel Monte Carlo packages (e.g., @Risk or Crystal Ball) is desirable.
