Role Summary
Senior Manager FP&A – Clinical & Development serves as a strategic business partner to the Clinical and Development organization, supporting a growing portfolio of clinical studies and development candidates. The role manages planning processes, partners with Clinical Development leadership, and assists the Sr. Director of FP&A with planning strategy and execution. It involves close interaction with the accounting team during month-end close processes. Location: South San Francisco, CA (onsite Tuesday–Thursday).
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Clinical and Development team to provide effective planning and analysis, delivering tools and analysis to senior leadership to establish goals and measure performance.
- Attend program team and development leadership meetings.
- Prepare financial reporting, including monthly actual vs. budget comparisons and variance analysis, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with the Accounting team on monthly close to ensure accruals and expenses are recorded accurately and promptly.
- Assist the Senior Director, FP&A in managing the longer-range plan (LRP) and budget processes, support internal controls compliance, prepare finance materials for the Board, and handle other high-priority projects.
- Foster strong interpersonal relationships to collaborate, influence, and build credibility with business partners across the organization, especially within Clinical and Development.
- Educate project team leads and functional heads about the budgeting process and their role in a successful process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting or a relevant degree.
- 7+ years of progressive financial reporting, planning and analysis experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Prior experience supporting R&D organizations and/or teams is highly preferred.
- System savvy with experience implementing or overseeing financial planning and reporting tools; experience with Adaptive Insights is a plus.
- Strong and advanced Excel modeling and analytical skills, and solid accounting knowledge.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
