Role Summary

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain - VPT leads as the bridge between the CMO and the broader BMS Supply Chain team, ensuring effective communication of supply chain information to and from the CMO & VPT and within BMS Supply Chain. The role drives supply chain improvements with the CMO.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and developing strong relationships with supply chain counterparts at CMOs and internal BMS stakeholders to facilitate continuous performance improvement.
  • Participate in Virtual Plant team meetings, CMO face-to-face meetings, and lead supply chain related meetings with the CMO as required.
  • Participate in BMS Supply Chain meetings as required to ensure alignment on BMS customer requirements.
  • Serve as the point of escalation for other supply chain functions including ExM Customer Planning, ExM Planning, ExM Logistics, Market Supply Planning and Inventory Control teams.
  • Prepare supply chain topics for discussion at CMO business reviews and represent BMS Supply Chain in relevant business reviews.
  • Accountable for CMO supply chain metrics; report metrics to CMO, VPT, and within ExM Supply Chain; generate action items to resolve performance issues.
  • Review relevant CMO forecast changes and communicate major changes and background to VPT and CMO; communicate forecast to CMO.
  • Determine supply priorities through interaction with ExM and Global Supply Chain teams and communicate priorities to the CMO.
  • Understand supplier capacity constraints and aid resolution; escalate as necessary.
  • Hold VPT accountable for continuity of supply and mitigation of risk to customers.
  • Communicate inventory risks to ExM inventory control and finance teams in a timely manner.
  • For finished goods, support ExM Supply Chain with new SKU introductions to meet market requirements.
  • Review CMO change controls to understand supply chain impact; assign actions and engage ExM planning to manage potential restrictions; align with Global Planning on approach to management of restrictions.
  • Aid in mitigating back orders and anticipated back orders with the CMO to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities to determine impact of supply delays, quality events, line shutdowns, projects, etc., on supply to customers; mitigate impact.
  • Communicate, escalate and manage stakeholders; implement standard ExM communication tools.
  • Execute scenario planning and engage with ExM planning for scenario analysis as needed.
  • Coordinate gathering of supply chain information for fact-finding investigations and represent Supply Chain at meetings.
  • Identify and drive supply chain improvement projects with CMO & ExM teams; review and streamline current processes.
  • Contribute to the ExM IBP process and Global Integrated Planning teams as required.
  • Review volumes for budget and projection; provide input into drivers behind variances.
  • Ensure BMS Supply Chain requirements are represented in contracts with, and provide input for, contract amendments/updates with the relevant CMO.
  • Identify supply chain projects to be implemented requiring additional support or escalation.
  • Participate in or lead projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • APICS or related qualification
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience in global manufacturing and supply environments, preferably in a similar role
  • Understanding of supply chain and regulatory operations in a cGMP environment
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical artwork management processes
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Project management qualification/experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of ERP, ideally SAP and SAP BW reporting, and related data analysis tools
  • Full understanding of BMS Supply Chain, products and markets
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Contract Manufacturing Supply Chain Operations
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and management of regulatory constraints
